Our logo represents the Great Blue Heron, a tall, bluish-gray wading bird that lives year-round in marshes and wetlands throughout the Chesapeake Bay region. In Indigenous American cultures, the heron is a good omen for fishing and a symbol of patience. In other traditions, the heron represents tranquility, serenity, and grace.
